Jovic: The Last Example on How Football Lacks Future Stars

Luka Jovic has signed with Real Madrid just a couple of days ago. An ammount of 60M€ plus up to 5M€ on extras, have moved him to Madrid, buying the 27 goals and 7 assists made in Europa League and the Bundesliga to the Champions League and LaLiga. Looking back to what happened to Mariano Díaz, signed last summer from Lyon, can anyone believe that Jovic is the star Madrid needs? I don't think so.

First of all, they already have a World Class player, a true one, as striker, Karim Benzema. Ok, he's already over 30 yo, but still he doesn't need the same physicial habilities that other players do. Then we have to make a question. Is Zidane thinking to play with a 4-4-2 so he would be able to play with both of them? Or Jovic is gonna be on the bench, cutting his progression. Also, that would make that at least one midfielder would go to the bench. Kroos, Isco, Casemiro and Modric have to fight for 3 positions already, only 2 of them would make it more difficult to achieve any regularity at all, something Real Madrid should be thinking on if they want to fight for LaLiga in the next decade.

And even if Zidane manage to have everyone in the right position and enough regularity... who can believe is the same to score that goals in Eintracht with no pressure and against worse teams than playing with the pressure of a new country, a team like Real Madrid who is capable of hating the brightest star in just a few matches and in the Champions and LaLiga. Again, most people consider his young age and some nice actions as enough to progress properly, but let me doubt. Look at what happen with Isco or Mariano as two relatively recent players with similar expectations as what Jovic has to face.

This situation is part of a big picture. Big teams are inflating the market so much, that now everyone has to fight even for young players with a nice season. All in all, no one wants to expend another 200M€ or so to buy players like Neymar, who showed that no matters how big you're, you're not a Cristiano, a Ibrahimavic, a Ronaldo, a Messi, not a Gerrard or a Lampard, more leaders than only the star of their teams. We're facing a general lack of new talent in the world of football, and big teams are desperate to find the new CR7 before he scores his first goal even. But I can tell that is not gonna work. You cannot buy a world class player already mature, talented and with the mentality, unless you have a billion or two to buy Mbappé from PSG. But that is the exception. He's the next alpha of the football, that gonna be only 23 when CR7 will be 40 and Messi 36. He's the one with true opportunities, he show them in the World Cup against serious competitors, and taking seriously the Ligue1 and other french trophies, he demonstrated a lot of spirit.
